Somkiat Jamnian

"Sawasdee krab! I am Somkiat Jamnian but my nickname is Lek. I grew up in Kanchanaburi, in a blissful family with one elder brother, one younger brother and one younger sister.

"After graduating from university I worked for a large company for 14 years. But I wanted to work for myself, and I notice that my friend's family worked with metal sheets and remnants. I think all metal sheet is useful, and I want to save the environment. So I decided to recycle these remnants to craft metal clocks. For seven years, I sold my designs at the weekend market and they were well accepted.

"I grew up in a Buddhist society and I honor Buddhism. So my designs are influenced by our Buddhist environment. My decorative pieces combine Thai style with lotus motifs. I design all my work with my heart. I want to bring the traditions of Thailand to a modern lifestyle through my art.

"I enjoy being able to do something I love with more freedom, and am so glad to present my new designs every month. I hope Novica shoppers will like my art work and come back to see more designs. And I welcome your feedback.
